T-Mobile customers should stop experiencing SMS problems within the next day

While T-Mobile has been largely silent about an issue affecting potentially millions of its customers, a few renegade T-Mobile employees have taken to unofficial channels like Reddit to help customers who have been experiencing issues with missing, delayed, and duplicate SMS messages.

The issue first started at the beginning of last week, and even I have been affected by this. I first thought that there was some kind of issue with the Android 5.1 update for the Nexus 6, since the issue started around the same time I applied the update, but soon discovered by speaking with a T-Mobile employee that this particular issue was affecting others, as well.

Specifically, many T-Mobile customers were receiving duplicate text messages, text messages that were delayed by several hours, or they weren’t receiving text messages at all. My issue seemed to be a combination of all three.

According to this thread in the T-Mobile sub-reddit, however, the issue should be cleared up in full within the next day:

The issue is resolved. Though the text queue might be backed up for a couple of days. You may experience some delayed messages til then. It states 48hours from yesterday. Supposedly by tomorrow it should all be cleaned up.

Were you one of those affected by this issue? If so, let us know below!
