How to turn off Chrome’s Material Design tabs

Merged Chrome Tabs and AppsWith Material Design and Lollipop of course came change in the Google product Chrome. As opposed to having tabs, Chrome users now switch between tabs by pressing the select button and then scrolling to the tab they want.

Scrolling through this, you’ll also have options for other apps, settings pages, pretty much any other thing you’ve been in will be up for display or in the way of your searching.

While this method is fine for some and fits with the Material Design theme, you might not want it, or prefer the old way where Chrome is an island unto itself, and it’s pretty easy to switch back to the old tabbed way Chrome did it.

Simply go to Menu > Settings > Merge tabs and apps, and turn it off if you want the old Chrome, on if you like the Material Design/Lollipop feel.

The select/recent button will now display only one window for Chrome, and from there you can press the Chrome Tab number and select from your opened tabs without running across your Words With Friends games or Trivia Crack.
