Android TV-powered Razer Forge goes on sale for $150

Razer Forge

Do you want an Android TV device, but you’re just not interested in the Nexus Player? Up until now, your options have either been to buy a TV with Android TV built in, or just be S-O-L … until now.

Razer officially announced the Forge set-top box at CES 2015 last January, but has been largely silent until just a few days ago, when the device appeared for pre-order on Amazon for $150. It’s expected to ship on May 1 with a game controller included, even though the company’s original plans called for it to sell for $99 without a controller.

Specs includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, so it’s a bit more powerful than the Nexus Player. Additionally, Razer plans to release an app for Windows that would allow the Forge to stream games from a local PC to the box on a big screen TV.
