Sprint adds free Colombia, Denmark, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Paraguay, and Sweden

Last last week, Sprint announced that it has expanded its free international data roaming to include Columbia, Denmark, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Paraguay, and Sweden. This is in addition to the other countries in which the carrier already offers this free service: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Russia, South Korea, Spain and United Kingdom.

The free data roaming works almost identically to T-Mobile’s free international data roaming: customers are restricted to 2G speeds, unless they choose to pay for a high speed data bucket, and the roaming includes free SMS messaging. Calls to anywhere in the world in these countries are $0.20/minute. The only difference is that T-Mobile offers this service in over 120 countries around the world, while Sprint offers it in 22.

Still, this is better than nothing, and it proves that T-Mobile’s Uncarrier moves continue to make waves in the mobile carrier market in the US.
