Google Nexus 6 on Project Fi finally gets updated to Android 5.1.1

Project Fi logoIf you’ve been lucky enough to get a Project Fi invite, and you’ve been using it on your Google Nexus 6 by Motorola, you’ve probably noticed that your Android 5.1.1 update was nowhere to be found. Instead, you were stuck on Androif 5.1.

That’s no fun!

Luckily, that changes today: Google is sending out an OTA update to all Nexus 6 devices on Project Fi, bumping them up to 5.1.1 and build LVY48C. The update weighs in at 92MB and includes all the standard 5.1.1 bug fixes and feature enhancements, along with some specific stuff under the hood just for Project Fi. Specifically, the Fi fixes include changes that address connectivity issues in some areas, including Arizona and Seattle.

The full system image isn’t available yet on the Nexus factory image page, but we have the OTA link right here in case you’d like to flash that manually in recovery. That will only work if you are currently running build LVY47H, i.e. if you bought your phone directly from Fi. If you got your Nexus 6 somewhere else and you’re running a different build, you’ll probably have to wait for the system image to be released.
