GRDE charging stand for Apple Watch review

I recently set about testing a few Apple Watch stands that I was sent, the GRDE GM02 Aluminum Charging Stand for the Apple Watch wins for minimalistic and solid design, although I still question the requirements of these types of product to exist.

The GRDE charging stand is a heavy hunk of aluminum that comes in at about $30 and still requires you to supply your own charging cable.

The design allows for only one way to position the thing if you want to view the Apple Watch, and it’s not particularly portable, so this is something that’s going to be sitting on your desk more than something that will be with you wherever.

That’s not a bad thing, just be aware the thing is close to 25 ounces, and taking it apart and putting it back together are not particularly difficult but it does take some time.

The Apple Watch chargers are not manufactured by third parties yet, so what you’re paying $30 for is a small, well carved, block of aluminum that you could probably use as a weapon.

I admire the simplicity of this thing, although I don’t personally feel the need to have a charging watch in eye level considering there’s the phone it is connected to right nearby. That however is me.

It has a small glue pad to adhere the charger, but I found that wasn’t needed once the charger was in and a watch was on it.

If you’re looking for an incredibly solid holder for an Apple Watch charger and watch, this thing is like a brick and I can’t imagine any flaws can pop other than if it just doesn’t appeal to your sensibilities.

In the end, it’s a non-adjustable metal stand that’s available in black, silver, and golden. The price is too high for carved metal for my tastes however.

The GM02 2015 Apple Watch Stand by GRDE is available from Amazon for $29.99.
