So, what does this mean for you?
If you’re on Android, just let your Google+ app update already. Accept the Google Photos download that you’ve been rejecting. Seriously. The game is over; it’s time to move on. (Most Android users automatically accept all updates, though, so if you fall into this camp, you’re probably already using Google Photos on your device.)
If you have downloaded the Google+ Photos app for Chrome, it will stop working on August 1, or shortly thereafter. There isn’t a replacement Chrome app, but Google Photos on the web should work just fine. If you are on Chrome OS and want offline access to your backed up photos, just turn on the Google Photos folder in Google Drive, and set that folder for offline access on your Chromebook. If you are on Windows or Mac, Google does have a Google Photos app that will automatically upload photos and keep your existing folders in sync on your device.
If you access Google+ Photos on the web, it will soon start automatically redirecting to Google Photos soon.
Hey, it could be worse … at least the geniuses over in Mountain View aren’t pulling a “Google Reader.”
