CHOETECH dual USB Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 car charger review

The CHOETECH C0046 Dual USB Car Charger came as a little bit of a disappointment to me as I was expecting a device with two functioning Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 USB ports and instead this has one, and a second port that’s a standard 2.4amp USB charger.

Choetech dual USB car charger with Quick Charge 2.0It’s not too shabby, but not quite what I would have expected from the device. Why half the awesome? There’s also the total output wattage of the device according to the manual is 30watts. Considering a single port QQC2.0 charger is 18 watts and the CHOETECH is 30 watts, I think it might be a bit underpowered for a full blown dual charging scenario. I have a new baby and can’t do math any more, so I’ll skip any attempts at dividing the wattage into the output voltage to figure out the max amperage in any given scenario.

My use of it, my phone didn’t get to the levels of QC2.0 I’ve become accustomed to. I topped out at about +1500mA on any test I’ve done with it. Considering on a wall port I see +2100 regularly and on my TYLT Y-Charge [QUIK]  I’m seeing 1800-2000 I think something may be a little underpowered. Maybe I got a defective unit. It’s faster than a standard charger, but not as fast as most of the QC2.0 chargers I’ve played with.

Overall it looks nice, it does charge standard devices well, not a lot to complain about except it’s not the fastest charger in the pack, or I’ve got an underperforming one.

Update: of course I post this, plug it in later, and it’s working normally with +2000 charge rates, which probably indicates my phone wasn’t requesting enough juice.

The CHOETECH 30W Dual USB Car Charger with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 is available from Amazon for $15.99
