The screen resolution is only 800×480, so imagewise it’s not particularly impressive, but for most minor display needs it’ll get the job done when you don’t want to lug a keyboard and display around with you everywhere.
The touch display can support of up 10 finger recognition at a time, so as long as you’re not attempting to do something with an app like Adult Player there shouldn’t be a problem.
The new touchscreen is compatible with the Pi 2 Model B, the Pi Model A+, and B+. It’s technically compatible with the A & B boards, but the mounting holes will not line up properly and you’ll be forced to use chewing gum to secure it.
The official site lists it as out of stock, but a very similar unit has been on Amazon since July with mixed reviews, so buyer beware. You might just want to wait for the official one to restock.
The display/touchscreen comes in at $60, which when you add in shipping and the cost of the Pi is a price point you could almost get two quad-core Android tablets (7″. dual camera, sound, 8gb nand, etc.) for that price.
I mention that Android component because it could be significantly less expensive to use that as the display assuming you’re into rigging things up, which considering you’ve got a Raspberry Pi, chances are good you are.
