1byone IPX6 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker review

I’ve been thinking about this speaker a few days. The thing is tough, can take a beating, and the IPX6 means you can get it wet without too much worry, it’s thick, has a good battery, comes with a carabiner to carry it around with you, but it’s not quite the all-around speaker I want.

For the weight you’re carrying it doesn’t get quite loud enough to bring the party. Something I’ve always felt was one of the JAM Audio features, and failings in a product they had that looked similar to this. It may be you just can’t pack the sound I want into a speaker the size and weight of a hockey puck.

The speaker is loud, it is water resistant, the onboard controls are rubber, can be tactilly felt, the sound reproduction is nice, but I guess my problem is it’s a mono speaker that needs to be aimed to be enjoyed.

I mean, when it is aimed, it’s a good mono speaker. Sound reproduction is nice. Cone of the sound is kind of limited though.

Picks up lint and drywall dust like nobody’s business. I have no idea how it’s possible… fortunately you can just rinse it off.

It’s not the sort of speaker I’d like to take camping, unless I was hanging it on a tree somewhere, but it is the sort of speaker I’d love to have if I were perhaps doing low voltage cabling or stage lighting or any sort of construction where I’m going to be located in one place for a bit.

I feel like if two of these were paired up and aligned correctly there exists the possibility of the world’s greatest portable audio system, but that’s not the case right now.

Where this absolutely shines is the price. You’re not going to beat it I don’t think. You’re also not going to be disappointed in a reasonably loud BT speaker/loudspeaker/mic/everything combo.

This just really feels like a bluetooth speaker for stagehands, people who pull wiring, and light construction rather than people who would consider it for showers or camping. But, just my opinion.

I like it, but feel it’s got a very specific audience who doesn’t need stereo, needs sound directed, and has plans of dropping it from height into wet situations.
