Casio Smart Outdoor Watch First Impressions

Casio Smart Watch

TL;DR – IT IS BIG AND IT IS CASIO

I received the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch (WSD-F10) in for review today and two things immediately jumped it at me. First, this watch is big – no huge. I’ve been wearing a Moto 360 for a long time. I thought that was a big watch. I was wrong. This watch defines what it means to be a big watch. I’m a biggish guy at about 6’1″. I have big wrists. This watch dwarfs them.

Second, this watch screams CASIO. This watch is the sum of every thought and memory and imagining I have of a Casio watch smashed together with Android Wear. It’s bold and bulky.  It’s solid and rubbery. And it’s got buttons. This isn’t the sort of watch you’d wear with a business suit or out to dinner. It’s an “in your face” sort of watch that’s almost larger than life.

The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters and is MIL-STD-810G compliant. There are two LCDs inside – one color and one monochrome – to allow for always on time without the battery drain. The watch switches back and forth between them depending on what state it is in. It looks like an interesting watch. I’ll be putting it through the paces over the next couple of weeks. If you can’t wait, you can buy it now from Amazon.
