Posh Mobile L550 Preview and First Impressions

I recently had the opportunity to review the Posh Mobile L640. It was the first device from Posh Mobile I’d used and I was pleased to discover how fine a device it is. I’m happy for the opportunity to review another Posh device, the L550. The L550 is a $110 unlocked LTE phone running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The phone itself is available in black, gold, and white. The review model I received is white and silver. It makes a good first impression. The white is crisp and the silver shines – nothing muted or yellowy about this phone. The edges are rounded and the overall impression is very HTC or iPhone like. It fits nicely in the hand and the tightest pocket thanks to it’s 7.3 mm thickness.

The L550 has a 5.5 inch 1280×720 LCD which works out to 267 DPI. It’s too bad that the panel isn’t 1920×1080 but at this price the lower resolution is understandable. The display doesn’t look bad it just isn’t as crisp as it could.

Some potential gotchas with the L550 are the storage (only 16 GB but it is expandable), RAM (1 GB), and CPU (MediaTek MSM 8916). In my limited use I haven’t hit any performance issues but I have yet to really tax the phone. I’ll definitely have more to say about this in the final review.

As with the, L640 Posh Mobile includes quite a bit in the box. There’s a clear TPU case, screen protector, headphones, and charger. It’s a well equipped phone especially considering the extremely low cost of entry.

I’m looking forward to using the L550 for the next couple of weeks. I’m curious to see just what sort of phone experience one can have for $110. Despite the lackluster specs early impressions are favorable, particularly at this price. Look forward to a review soon. Check out Amazon if you’re interested in trying the Posh Mobile L550 yourself.
