VHS beats Amcrest POE IP cam in 32fps/ps test

Big ol' VHSWhat? We’re doing VHS quality comparisons? Nope. This was something amusing that happened at work where there sits an ancient pro video tape player. Well, where sat an ancient tape player. 11:40something last night gravity and 19 years of sitting in the same spot decided to combine to send the tape player on a little journey.

We’ve looked at the other cams, there was nothing active other than this at that time, so either a ninja snuck in so slowly that they were not seen, or 19 years of a 70 pound pro videotape machine decided to throw itself toward the ground.

The temp wiring I have in place for the Amcrest POE camera just happened to get snagged as it had to snake up the corner of a cabinet, and the camera managed to take being yanked off the wall and bonked into a cabinet and still record everything to a remote FTP site.

So if you’re bored and want to watch an IP camera fall, that’s what I’ve been cleaning up today (along with dealing with a weird Comcast issue)

In case you’re forgetting 32fps/ps is gravity
