If features a rechargeable battery, several end tools you can attach to it including a mirror, magnet, and hook. Extremely useful if you’re fishing for keys in a storm grate.
Using the WiFi Borescope app the image from the camera streams in fast enough to be useful (a few frames a second,) the picture quality is a decent 2mp, although it very much varies by distance and what the lighting source is. My 5yo immediately stuck the camera in her mouth while I was recording so she could see what’s bothering her (new teeth). No, I did not ask her to, no that’s not what it’s for, here’s a picture however of a 5 year molar coming in.
Unfortunately the lighting isn’t automatic. You can raise or lower the light at the end of the endoscope to get a better image. The software needs some work. Videos saved seem to have issues if I attempt to play them in other players, but I don’t think that’s generally what most people are looking for in an endoscope. You want to see what’s clogged in the drain or what’s right under the engine of your car, of what’s inside this wall here before I hit it with an axe.
Or like my 5yo, what’s bugging you at the back of your mouth.
I’ve had so many uses for this type of product in my life, and since I got it I’ve had next to none, however it does work well, let you check out what’s in that mouse hole or kid’s mouth (not recommended,) and see things you couldn’t otherwise.
That said, you’ll quickly realize while attempting pipe spelunking that the camera head will immediately manage to get gunked up, and the rigid cable has to keep bending. I do not think this is particularly suited for pipe inspections. My dreams of having Roto Rooter’s cameras are a ways off. It is great for peeking in an air vent however.
The only thing I really wish it could do is be on something other than WiFi, or have casting built in. I had a use case where I needed to broadcast my view to a TV, and since my WiFi was devoted to talking to the endoscope, I couldn’t screen cast.
I never ran the camera battery down, coming in at 1000mAh my guess is it’s got about a 75 minute runtime. Simple USB recharging via Micro USB. A pretty cool product.
