Google

Google Home has a ways to go still (10 attempts to play a song)

home banner - for some reason we don't have an alt tag hereHere’s a short rundown of me attempting to play the song Mayan Pilot by Splashdown, which exists in my Google Play Music Library. It’s pretty much the most frustrating experience I’ve had with Google Home to date because as shown below sometimes it works.

I’ll note the speaker group House is all of my Google Home devices, it was initially named All

Try one:

Play Mayan Pilot

Imagine Maya As An Airplane Pilot (Maeyah, Maia, Mayah) by The Personalized Kid Music Band, sure. Playing on Google Play Music.

Try two:

Play Mayan Pilot from my library

Alright, here’s the song Mayan Pilot. Playing from your Google Play Music library.

Try three – attempting to broadcast this across the house

Play Mayan Pilot from my library on all the speakers

Okay, Mayan Pilot from Youtube. Playing on kitchen speaker.

(at this point I rename “all the speakers” to “house” thinking this might fix it)

Try four:

Play Mayan Pilot from my library on house

Alright, embarrassing ringtones in the library Prank!! from YouTube. Playing on Kitchen Speaker.

Try five:

Play Mayan Pilot from my library on speaker group house

Alright, Blocks from YouTube. Playing on House

(at this point everything in the house started playing something called Blocks)

Try six:

Play Mayan Pilot by Splashdown

Alright, ironspy – from YouTube, playing on House

(interesting, I had not said “house” on this one)

Try seven:

Play Mayan Pilot by Splashdown on speaker group house

Alright, Mayan Pilot from Pandora. Playing on House.

Try eight:

(it misheard) Play My in Pilot from my library on speaker group house

Sure, Car Radio from YouTube. Playing on House

Try nine:

Try ten:

And at that point I had to leave to grab my kid from school.
