Google’s Messages app is now just Messages. Because keeping a name for longer than one year is just not the Google Way any more.
If you haven’t tried Messages, it’s actually a pretty decent app regardless of my name-change dislike. It’s what I’m using as my primary SMS (although Presidential and Amber Alerts still seem to try to go to Samsung’s Messages.)
Google’s Messages for Web makes chatting with multimedia significantly easier than any other solution I have run across, although it still is annoying because unlike Voice’s texting you still have to have your phone on and functioning which defeats the usefulness for texting “Phone’s flashing a new ROM, I’ll call you in 30.”
