The icy cold wind of change gusts up our collective shirt

Pocketables logo 400x400 - for some reason we don't have an alt tag herePocketables has looked about the same since 2014, and it’s had most of the same problems since then. Most of the problems could be traced to a theme that simply wasn’t supported any more that we were using (Boulevard.)

Things that were introduced in WordPress and Jetpack after 2014 tended to be hit or miss, and as a result of some of the issues our SEO (what allows people to find us in a search engine,) went through the floor. We won’t even get into the other stuff, just technically the site’s been a zombie.

And I’m not a WordPress guru. Nobody here is. OK, we’re all probably pretty awesome, but none of us want to be a wordpress guru when it comes to supporting the site.

So for right now, we’ve ditched the old theme. It’s still there, just trying something new and seeing if we want to pony up the yet another couple hundred bucks for a professional theme (which past track record tends to indicated will be required again shortly.)

I’m hoping you’re here for the content, which the 4640 or so RSS subscriber hits a day tend to indicate, and not the theme that was built in 2012. But if you are, feel free to drop a line and we’ll consider changing it.

As of right now we’ve finally got the ability to serve webp, mobile and desktop in one site, and it doesn’t make my eyes bleed. But meh, we’ll figure it out, or we’ll move back.

As a note, what it looks like today is not the final product. There’s no good way to get everything done without setting up a production server and then moving thing after thing over. Meh, it’ll look nice in a bit. I hope…
