VIZIO Smart TV class action settlement details emerge
I was otherwise unaware that VIZIO has a class action lawsuit against it regarding improper notification of data collected and resale of consumer data on certain smart displays that connect to the internet, but evidently that’s the case. Here’s some details on the VIZIO Smart TV class action settlement.
Last night while attempting to enjoy the Tonight Show, which is something I struggle with enjoying any time it’s on honestly, I got the following on screen when the VIZIO display I have powered up. Forgive the picture, it’s from a zoom lens in the dark across a room in an attempt to capture that message before it disappeared.

You can hit the VIZIO class action settlement website here.
You’ll need to know the model number and approximate date of purchase, but evidently no proof is actually required in order to be in on the settlement, which I’m sure won’t encourage thievery and such this being the lawful internet and all.
VIZIO has paid $17 million into the fund, so claims are going to be dependent on how much the lawyers took and how many people actually sign up. They’re estimating $13-30 per claimant. But who knows.
