Your tech can stay in your bag soon, until the TSA decides against it two weeks later
The TSA is bringing upgraded technology to airport scanning systems that will allow you to leave electronics, liquids, and other items in carry-on baggage for scanning.
Until, like TSA-friendly laptop bags, they decide it just isn’t working. (Paul looks at his three fold-flat no-remove required bags that he was forced to remove all the contents of, every single time).
Approximately 300 machines will be upgraded initially with scanners that make 3D images via computed tomography of items in your bags and then match them against potential threats.
Until the TSA decides it doesn’t work or that they’re getting fed up with your kids’ sandwiches registering as either a gun or C4.
The 300 machines are funded and set to replace some of the 2000+ X-Ray machines in operation, a request has been sent for funding for another 300 for the 2020 budget. There is no tech solution at the moment to prevent the TSA from looking at or patting your junk however.
