Following HTC’s lead, 1+ grabs Robert Downey Jr.
The Verge is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. will be the spokesface of OnePlus’s new OnePlus 7.
Six years ago RDj was paid $12 million for an advertising campaign for HTC (below is one such commercial). Look at how well HTC has done since then.
Six years ago HTC was worth 279 TWD per share, and today it’s at about 35. Many sites are calling RDj’s endorsement the kiss of death that OnePlus has been asking for, but it wasn’t his fault he was the last death grip of HTC who couldn’t figure out how to recreate something like the HTC EVO 4G again.
The next OnePlus evidently has no certified IP rating, they’re spending the money on celebrity, so we’ll see how much people are willing to pay for a device that can’t legally claim it can handle a sneeze ;)
