Soundbar Bluetooth speaker? BlitzWolf BW-SDB0
Ever since my extremely oversized speaker decided to give up the ghost, I have been running the sound coming from my computer via headphones (editing) or just plain monitor speakers for anything else. Then I portable soundbar dropped into my hands. Alright, it’s a mini soundbar. Is BlitzWolf BW-SDB0 any good?

I’m actually a little impressed with the BlitzWolf BW-SDB0 Soundbar. I wasn’t sure what is coming (review bundle item) so I opened the music speaker blindly, plugged it in and decided to just roll with the experience. Since then I discovered the following functions:
- battery powered Bluetooth speaker
- FM/AM Radio
- Clock (no alarm)
- USB, micro SD slots
I’m actually positively surprised how often I find myself checking the clock out. The radio is a nice addition if you get tired of your playlists.
Sound…..bar
This is not a portable device. As soundbars go, this is probably a 1/3 in the size. It comes with a built-in battery and AUX. A “digital in” would be nice, but something tells me, this is a Bluetooth speaker built to look like a soundbar, not the other way around.
The sound is ok. Powered by 2 x 5W speakers, it won’t blow your mind, but it’s a pretty good improvement over the monitor speakers. It lacks bass, which is slightly annoying as much smaller in size Amazon Echo 3rd gen gets the job done much better.
Despite soundbar appearance, BlitzWolf BW-SDB0 is not something you want to use with your TV. I don’t think it has enough kick. Unless your TV speakers are really bad, I would stick to using it with a computer.
There is a slight problem
I appreciate the radio, and the clock doubling as a display for your options and volume levels, but there is one thing that puts me off. BlitzWolf BW-SDB0 comes with very loud voice prompts.
I’m not sure why manufacturers insist on having awkward voice sounds, but these are way too loud. You can hear it across the entire house regardless of your volume levels.
I wish I could have an option to have the voice prompts in addition to very discrete sounds, so once I learn the navigation thanks to the voice commands, I could switch to near silent operation.
Conclusion
BlitzWolf BW-SDB0 is a battery-powered Bluetooth speaker that is shaped as a soundbar. It will look nice, but the depth of music will leave you craving for something more substantial. At $25 you will have to make your own call I think. It’s almost useless to me at night, where the sound of this turning on, would most likely wake my partner sleeping in the bedroom next door. Consider yourself warned.
