Millions of text messages compromised, hope you didn’t text anything you don’t want Santa to know about

Virus - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

According to security researchers, a database belonging to TrueDialog which provides text messaging solutions to companies, has evidently been open on the internet all this time.

Whether the researchers or hackers discovered it first, who knows? Researchers found tens of millions of text messages, account usernames and passwords, and basically all that kinky crap you sent your ex when you were thinking about leaving your current.

The database has been closed to the public, so hopefully no hackers have intercepted everything you’ve ever texted, ever, but that’s probably not the case. If a security research team finds it, chances are a bored 13 year old did first.

Basically, 608 gigabytes of text messages, account names, and account passwords in clear text have been sitting open.

So yeah, my guess is in the next couple of days we’ll be hearing statements from various cell providers about whether they used TrueDialog or not, and blackmailers who might have had access to this will be contacting you shortly should the need arise.
