T-Sprint-Cast soon able to verify real callers

SMS spam - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

If you’re like most, you’ve had your phone on silent since 2019 and have not answered any phone number not in your contacts because they’re all spam. Soon Comcast, Sprint, and T-Mobile will let you know whether or not it’s a spoofed call.

What this means is if it’s someone faking a number with a PBX, you’ll get a “not verified” notification when your phone’s called. This only works on some phones at the moment, meaning Comcast, Sprint, and T-Mobile might have leveraged you into an upgrade if you want the notification.

The verification process will not stop spammers, but it should at least prevent them from spoofing your work number and calling you at odd hours.

To get around the verification process spammers will have to (checks spam call playbook) buy a $4 activated SIM and use it until it gets shut down. Alternately use their real numbers, or arrange with other telespammers to trade local numbers for outdial.
