In case you want another video service, Google Meet (now in your inbox)

In what will most likely be rebranded, rebuilt, renamed, and eventually in the Google Graveyard, Google Meet is now available for everyone from a launching point in Gmail.

The service was announced free last week but just showed in Gmail today for me and Ben.

Two weeks ago they announced anyone with an email address could use meet.google.com for meetings, and as of today we’re seeing it on the left side of Gmail.

In the web version of gmail look to the left, you should see it. Living right above the now unused Hangouts chat that it should have merged with.

I have not used Google Meet yet. The quality they show in their video looks slightly better than Zoom but we’ll see. Looks like one of the big features of Meet is it’s going to be incorporated in email, calendar, and probably retroactively into cached pages of Google Plus for Business.

Probably not that last one.

We’ll see if DuckDuckGo manages to keep up with this one…
