Google adding end to end encryption to Messages app

Should you be worried about someone intercepting your text messages? Google tends to think so and is rolling out the ability to have the messages encrypted end to end, as long as both ends are Google Messages.

Google Messages

I personally don’t see a lot of use in this, but I also no longer send any sensitive information via text, email, or usually voice as I always assume it can be intercepted by a man in the middle attack, a compromised keyboard app, a screen recorder, a listening app, a background service recording where touches are being made on the screen, etc.

It’s something, it’s coming, and as it only works in Messenger at the moment may make Android the device of choice for those who care about security in plain ol’ text messages but don’t feel like installing something like Whatsapp.
