Roku persistent root achieved

ROKU screen

Want to sideload YouTube TV? Install one of the many IPTV apps that were removed so you can watch your fancy Thai Chicken show? Better act fast as an an exploit called RootMyRoku is out and potentially being patched by Roku as I type.

The root method will block all communications with Roku so get any channels you want from the store before hand, realize there’s not a lot you can do at the moment as sideloading I don’t think is easy, and yeah…

Evidently you can factory reset your Roku if it doesn’t work, but at that point you’ll probably update to unrootable software.
