Everyone on Amazon take a step forward – not so fast RavPower, TaoTronics, Vava

Amazon has kicked off RavPower, TaoTronics, and Vava (all of these share the same parent company,) for fake reviews. For transparency since we theoretically make money on sales, Pocketables (John) reviewed RavPower products in 2014, TaoTronics in 2018 (review indicated extremely overstated life), and we’ve evidently never run across Vava. Also should be noted we’ve got something from one of them in for review at the moment

The fake review schemes have been going on for decades now. I reported a few back years ago, Amazon did nothing. Roughly a third of the newly released products I get from Amazon include a little card saying “like it? leave 5 stars and send us a link to the review and you’ll get something.” Honestly at this point I don’t even bother looking at the 5 star reviews on Amazon, I look at the 3 and below. Those are the only ones I trust.

Anyway, as the old saying goes, screw around, find out 17 years later.

The sad part is it leaves either Anker or random companies with Scrabble bag names if you want to get cheap electronics. I’ve liked my Mpow stuff; even though they are a white label and the same items can be purchased by from other companies, I knew their stuff was good or they stood behind it if it wasn’t.
