Searching for a real world account of how good any particular cell carrier is as I mentioned previously: a block by block thing. Carrier maps are notoriously generous to themselves and don’t reflect reality in many cases. That’s why you’ve got to go third party.
TL;DR – Opensignal app got better / more useful.
In the past couple of weeks the Opensignal app added the ability to narrow down the map data they provide you to carrier, 2/3G, LTE, or 5G. You want to see if you need to make IT accommodations for a work zoom call when you’re on vacation, you can check if there’s decent bandwidth where you’re going.
Hiking in a national park and need to know whether you’re going to be able to gets calls in the event someone’s burning your house down? Got you covered, or not.
The maps can give network stats such as average bandwidth for an area. You can plot where there’re dead spots or spaces you can’t have a video call, and overall it’s a useful tool for pre-planning going places when you’ve still got to be reachable or do some work.
