Twitter removing Fleets on Aug 3, 2021

Twitter’s Fleets, or Fleeting Tweets if you’re wondering, were a way for Ryan Reynolds to slide into your notifications. Now that the pandemic has died down a bit and Free Guy will finally be released in theaters, Twitter has evidently decided they don’t need to cater to him any more.

The official Twitter account posted that on August 3 the fleeting tweets will be but a memory. Then again on May 20th they posted that Verified Twitter Status was back and posted a big ol’ FAQ about it and here we are July 14th and it’s still rolling out to accounts (Pocketables’ account is circa 2008 and still doesn’t have the apply option, so they haven’t gotten far.)

Goodbye Fleets, I hope a couple of platform’s Stories follow you shortly. You will not be missed by me.
