Windows 11 has been released to the public today and as we can see from the picture below it’s going about as well as could be expected.
Of course I write that and then it starts working…
You can check for updates via your standard Windows Updates (start, “updates”,) but that’s probably not going to get you anywhere for a few days.
I have to be a guinea pig for my work, but you don’t.
Downloading for me took about three minutes, however I have “allow downloads from other PCs” and “PCs on my local network and PCs on the Internet” turned on in delivery optimization, which I suspect is the only reason it was blazing fast today.
Once again, I highly suggest anyone who’s job isn’t doing tech support not be a guinea pig on this at the moment but you’re already installing it aren’t you… oh you are tech support… good.
Back it up, back it allllll up… you supposedly have 10 days to roll back to 10 if you don’t like it.
Remember TPM has to be turned on in BIOS, and the machine needs to support UFEI boot or you’re going to need to get a hack/script to get around it. I don’t have info on that, feel free to let me know.
I would also like to let you know that the Windows 11 featured image we pulled from here (Microsoft’s page) the file name is Wondows-11-Start.jpg – I will be calling this one Wondows.
