YouTube Music sucks less now that web casting works

After what, two years of being forced onto YouTube Music, casting music is finally available in the web version of the service. In the past you’ve been able to cast audio via the web browser, but that ended up being tab dependent and I won’t bore you with the story of the Halloween party where we had serious problems getting anything to play / sharing playlists / basically ended up devoting a disconnected phone to playing music after the laptop went to sleep.

Let’s remember that casting was available and working great in Google Music, as well as the ability for people under 13 to use the service, oh and playlists which were not available via the Assistant at time of forced migration… oh, and if you wanted to put a Kidz Bop song in a playlist you could without getting a notification that content made for children was not accessible in a playlist. Etc.

If I were to choose a music service, YouTube Music would be about dead last. But now we’ve got proper casting ability evidently.

As this is Google, you can expect to see the cast button for your YouTube Music whenever they feel like rolling it out to your account. You’ll see the cast option in the top right.
