Disney beats Netflix in spite of Netflix Games, hiking prices 38%
Disney’s streaming services (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Hotstar,) combined now have more members at the House of Mouse than Netflix after a quarter that saw Disney expand 14.4 million customers, 14.3 million of which were not from North America.
Following in the “we’re successful, can’t screw this up,” logical fail path of Netflix, Disney+ is announcing 37% price hikes, or you can keep your plebian plan for $7.99 and now be subjected to advertising on top of paying for it.
As of the second quarter earnings Disney+ had only made 3.5 billion in profit so obviously they need the extra $3 per month / $21.89 if you go yearly.
