Apple to not support RCS as long as humanly possible

It’s pretty clear why Apple doesn’t want to support RCS over iMessage. Much like how they kept Facetime in the Apple ecosystem as long as humanly possible until it became completely overshadowed by Zoom, Meet, etc. iMessage the only thing that effectively sets iPhones apart from six year old Android devices in the texting realm.

If you’re not lucky enough to have seen what happens when you attempt to send higher quality images and videos from Android to iPhone or vice versa, it’s a pixelated garbage heap.

While it would be far easier for Apple to support RCS, they could also simply open up the Apple text ecosystem and allow Android to develop a gate into it… but you know, they’re not going to. They can claim it will cost them to open up the iMessage servers.

For now, Apple expects people to jump through hoops to get high quality content sent, or as Tim Cook said “buy your mom an iPhone.”

But really, this isn’t rocket surgery, and claiming a lot of effort would have to be put into getting this accomplished means they’re claiming there has been no efforts made toward standardization.
