Windows 11 Android Subsystem seems to work on more systems now

I noticed that I had the ability to install the Amazon Appstore on my work machine last week. My work machine doesn’t even support Windows 11 and had to be forced to install it, and historically it has not shown the Amazon App store when looking in the Microsoft Store. It did last week.

Amazon App Store on Windows 11 on unsupported hardware

Today I noticed I was able to install the app store, and get the Android Subsystem for Windows up and running on my old system. Doesn’t seem to be remarkably stable, but if an app launches and starts it seems to keep running. If it doesn’t, it disappears almost instantly.

If you’ve been at the mercy of unsupported hardware, you might now be able to use it… might not… who knows… give it a shot.

Go to the Microsoft Store, search Amazon App Store. If it’s there, you’re set. If not, move on because you’re even more unsupported than I was.
