Stadia controllers to be updated to work post-Stadia

Like Jason Voorhees rising from the dead, Stadia will live on, at least in some part after the shutdown next week.

Update: The Stadia Bluetooth Controller update has released.

According to a post dated Friday the 13th on the Stadia Community by DanFromGoogle (and on Twitter,) the controllers will be getting an update to add general Bluetooth controller support to be useful going forward. Quite a bit better end than the landfill that it looked like they were headed toward. It’ll be released as a self-service tool and considering Google’s track record on these things will … you know what, I’m not going to poop on Google’s parade on this one. Maybe they’ll do it right.

Stadia is set to shutter on January 18th, 2023 and along with the Bluetooth announcement the last game to ever be released on Stadia (which was a test game prior to Stadia’s public launch,) has been released also today. Worm Game.

Anyway, as of writing it’s 5 days until shutdown, hopefully we’ll have controllers we can use going forward.
