Windows 11 update puts AI in your taskbar. What’s the worst that could happen?

A new Windows Update was announced on Twitter a few minutes ago that brings Microsoft’s AI chat into your search box on the task bar.

They couldn’t figure out how to force people to switch to Edge to use Bing (required to enter Bing chat,) to use an AI that makes up facts, so they’re putting it next to the start button so maybe you’ll be more likely to use it.

My playing with it over the past few days has left me extremely wary of the results. But maybe it will get better. It at least cites its sources.

Other notable additions include a screen recorder built into the snipping tool, and tabs being added to Notepad, Phone Link for iOS preview, and some AI searching capabilities

Here’s to hoping they have a search that finally works consistently. Between my office and home computers and dealing with support around the office it appears their launcher search works when it wants to.
