GameSir T4 Kaleid wired gaming controller review

The GameSir t4 Kaleid controller is a clear plastic controller that could almost pass for an OEM XBOX controller if you slapped an X logo logo and repositioned the select/start/menu buttons.. and hit the two additional buttons on the bottom of the controller. It’s not strange either considering they have a certified XBOX controller (The GameSir G7) which this pretty much is in clear-plastic form.

It ships with a cable that is a USB-C cable to the controller and a USB-A on the other side, although if you want to go USB-C – USB-C you can grab yourself a cable like that. It works with Xbox, Android, Switch, PC, etc.

Product specs say it has a built-in 6-axis gyro, which allows you to tilt to control in games that support that. I’m wondering if this works with Playstation as a controller – I know I’ve used tilting controllers on Gran Turismo for steering there. Hall-effect where it’s needed (triggers, joystick).

The T4 Kaleid appears to have pulled some of its design inspiration from the Babysitter’s Club phone (which was probably a Conair Trimline/SW205 clear plastic phone.) And it brings about as much cool factor as those did in the day.

Light up cycling lighting is cool, and if it gets distracting you can turn it off.

I gave it a go against a stock XBOX One X controller (not the Series X) and a Pro Microsoft controller I got with the Series X. I have my preference of the pro controller, but I had no problems or annoyances with the T4 Kaleid. It feels a bit light compared to an official XBOX controller but works just as well. The lightness might be a good selling point, but for me it’s not.

I don’t really have much use for the software, but if you’re PC gaming (maybe Android too) you can download an app and configure vibration intensity, color, and macros / repeat in case you’re not into button mashing. Read: Paul did not play with the software and doesn’t use modified settings.

Overall, for a wired controller I dig it. Unfortunately in my gaming setups wireless is required, or a 20 foot USB extension cable. So this is getting relegated to cloud and PC gaming for the most part.

Of the controllers I own (I own way too many for how little time I have to play these days,) it’s not my favorite, but it’s up there. It’s certainly the coolest of them all, but cool doesn’t factor in to my uses.

Grab it on Amazon.
