HTC Advantage coming to America
I don’t particularly care for Neil Diamond, but I can’t resist: On the boats and on the planes / It’s coming to America / Never looking back again / It’s coming to America! It’s been a long time coming, but the HTC Advantage is finally headed for the states.
Expected to begin shipping this summer, the Windows Mobile handtop that underwent several identity crises during the past few months will be available (unlocked!) through Amazon and other retailers. Other than the absence of the two cameras, its specs haven’t changed at all, though there does seem to be some discrepancy about the OS. Gizmodo is sticking with WM5 (with a WM6 upgrade/version in the future), while Crave confirms WM6 Professional Edition. There’s also this business with the::unwired reporting on the HTC X7501, which Tracy and Matt say is essentially the WM6 version of the Advantage.
Honestly, I don’t care what it runs. Even if the 8GB drive comes completely unformatted, I still want one. I’m crossing my fingers for a reasonable price, though, because 2007 is looking to be a very expensive, bank-breaking, UMPC-filled year.
