Microsoft to open 32 pop-up stores this fall for selling Surface and more

Microsoft Store Video Wall - for some reason we don't have an alt tag here

With one of the most hyped up Microsoft products in recent history set to hit stores in a month and a half and only 24 Microsoft Stores (and a website) from which to sell it, the Redmond-based software giant is in desperate need of more retail locations. The company plans to meet demand by erecting a number of pop-up stores in 32 cities around the United States and Canada, including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Portland, and Toronto.

Microsoft will ostensibly be using these stores to push its Surface tablets (which are reportedly a Microsoft Store exclusive), as well as Windows 8 PCs and installation discs, Windows Phone 8 handsets, and Xbox 360 consoles, as well as many other products from Microsoft and its partners.

Here’s the full list of pop-up locations:

These pop-up stores, which will open sometime this fall (most likely before the big launch on October 26), will complement the 24 permanent Microsoft Stores located in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachussetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, as well as the five which will soon be opening in Ontario, Puerto Rico, California, Delaware, New Hampshire, New York, and Ohio.
