The next HTC One is a bit more real after passing through WiFi certification process

HTC M8 WiFi certified

The next edition of HTC’s current flagship Android device, the HTC One, is now a bit more real. Codenamed the HTC M8, the successor to the HTC One has just appeared in the WiFi certification database. As is to be expected with any self-respecting Android handset nowadays, it’s got both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands with compatibility for the new super-fast WiFi ac standard.

It’s also got Miracast, Passpoint, and a few other nifty WiFi features, although that’s all we know for sure right now in terms of specs. However, this new certification does mean that we are still on track for an upcoming release very soon. If the latest rumors from evleaks are to be believed, the device might launch on all four major US cell phone service providers – Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile – by the end of Q1 2014 (next March).

Are you planning on upgrading your device to the new HTC One once it’s official?
