Google Calendar appears set to let you hide holidays

Google Calendar currently automatically prepopulates holidays in your calendar, but if the APK teardown posted over at 9to5Google is correct you may now have the ability to turn off individual holidays from showing on your calendar as well as adding holiday population from other regions.

The code is not active, but it exists in the current calendar apk. The ability to hide individual holidays may be beneficial for some as a constant reminder of certain days can be traumatic, but you can already disable holiday notification so the addition of this is for people who really have a grudge against Arbor day seems to be catering to a demographic that doesn’t exist.

I highly suspect this will mostly be used mostly to remove any notifications civil rights related holidays by a small demographic, but maybe I’m wrong.

The code in the APK teardown may never go live, or it might. Stranger things have happened.
