Be A HeadCase combines HTC EVO case with rust-proof bottle opener

Htc-evo-headcase

Last year, Be A HeadCase introduced an iPhone case with a stainless steel bottle opener built into the back. Now the US-based company is looking to bring the same beer o'clock convenience to the HTC EVO 4G with its supposedly backordered EVO bottle opener phone case.

An email sign-up box stands in place of a real photo, price, or availability info on the product page, so it's likely that the HeadCase folks are just gauging customer interest to determine whether the case is worth making.

Assuming it's exactly like the "American engineered" iPhone cases (the copy-and-pasted product description that still includes reference to a free iPhone app suggests that it is), then EVO owners can look forward to a "protective, fun, and functional case" with the following features:

  • Ribbed inner design keeps pressure off phone
  • Sealed moisture proof case
  • Outer rubberized coating
  • Chamfered front edge protects screen

If you're interested in helping this case make it into production (let's just assume "back-order" means "not made yet"), hand over your email address so you can "get the latest product info."

It’s cool till someone opens a bottle with the wrong side.

  • I thought Jenn would like this. I think of this two different ways:
    1) Your EVO can do everything, right? Now it can open beer too!
    2) This combines two of your favorite things: Your EVO & beer…

  • Just what I always wanted: a $600 bottle opener.

So, I’m guessing a 38 cent aluminum one on your keyring is out of fashion?

Has anyone asked Asurion if this voids your warranty? (Not even 1/2 :-)

  • this reminds me of the iPhone case (displayed proudly on Engadget a few months ago) with male organs attached to the bottom. Most bottles now are twist-off anyway–Ok, Corona and hard cider could benefit.

This is awesome! I don’t even drink, but I frequently buy soda from specialty stores. Mexican markets always have Coke made with real sugar, and in a glass bottle. It tastes SOOOOO good! But they are never twist off tops.

I have flipflops with a bottle opener in the bottom, but it never sat well with me that the bottom of my shoe was touching the top of my drink. Plus I don’t always wear flipflops. Assuming the price isn’t ridiculous, and the case isn’t too bulky, count me in!

  • Having the bottle opener on the back definitely adds a bulge to the back. I don’t know if I’d want this as a daily driver. It’s got to be a great joke at parties, though.

  • FWIW, the tide has *seriously* turned on HFCS — manufacturers are bragging about it *not* being in their products these days.

And whether you buy the “New Coke was a smokescreen so no one would notice the taste difference when we switched to HFCS” conspiracy theory or not, I still would only give it… say a year, before the major soda flavors switch back to cane sugar.
