Is this the successor to the HTC One?

HTC M8 1 HTC M8 2 HTC M8 3

While the HTC One has been a smash hit so far, it’s already November – so it’s time once again for rumors to start trickling in about HTC’s next flagship smartphone. And Chinese site VR-Zone has already leaked two photos of a device it calls the HTC M8. Since the HTC One was codenamed the M7, it’s not a stretch of the imagination to conjecture that this will be the next flagship phone from Taiwan.

Interestingly, the M8 has a very different frame design from the M7; instead of the current “sandwiched” design of the HTC One, the HTC M8 will be fully enclosed by a metal body. There appears to be a very light shade of blue in the frame, although – of course – the final product might come in any array of colors.

There’s also a small hole right above the cutout for camera lens, which many speculate might be a second rear camera. I’m not sure what purpose that would serve, but the current position is admittedly a very awkward place for a fingerprint sensor.

Of course, nothing is official – even the design, in case these photos are legitimate. HTC might change any number of things about any of its devices before they’re released, but it’s interesting to see what the manufacturer might have up its sleeves for us in the not-too-distant future.
