A battery powered chainsaw’s actually worth something

Last night we had some crazy storms. I’ve got a little Ryobi 40 volt battery powered little chainsaw and three batteries. I’ve got a neighborhood of people with trees downed, and for the first time in my life I’ve joined a band of chainsaw-wielding people not fighting zombies.

I’m the only battery operated chainsaw.

So far pound for pound I think I win. Three batteries at ~9 amp hours total however means I’ve got about an hour of sawing before two to three hours of charging.

Oddly, that’s about where my personal energy levels are.

Gas still wins when you’re stuck, and my saw’s only a 14 incher so, not sawing these great downed trees in half in one swipe.

But man, I’m impressed. I got it mainly because I hate gas powered things and had a beef with some shrubs that needed taught a lesson. Now I’m chopping up logs and clearing roads.

I have no other electric chainsaw comparison, but this Home Depot special is doing far more than I expected it would.
