New official Froyo ROM (build 12821) for unlocked Dell Streak contains bug fixes

Streak-update1

Dell has quietly released a new version of its official Android 2.2 ROM for unlocked Streaks.

There's no documentation accompanying build 12821, but those who have applied the update report that the web browser redirect issue from older builds has been resolved. That seems to be the biggest and most commonly noticed fix, though some people who previously had issues with 720p recording and Android Market crashes say those have been fixed as well.

There are two download links going around that I've seen:

Both lead to the download of the Streak_318_12821_00 package, which can be accessed here:

The file is 150MB like one of the earlier packages. Updating will change your baseband to GAUSB1A131800.

As for which versions of the Streak are able to install the update, there's a good amount of information to wade through on all the Streak forums (see links below), so I suggest you start there to see if your version is mentioned. I've heard success stories from people whose original builds were 11548 and 12332, which are the official Dell ROMs, so you should be fine if you're on any of those.

For those of you who don’t know, you can use Fards 309 recovery to flash directly from 1.6 or 2.1 to this build.

Can you send me the link to show that others have done it from 1.6. I would like to know if Att 1.6 or O2 1.6 as I have some family members and friends whom I will be doing this for in a few weeks(xmas) and prefer to do it a quicker way than the way I did mine all the way from At&t 1.6.

Also a link where I can find Fards 309(not too important, as I could do this using google), but prefer it if you have the link.

Thanks 4 any help you provide

Yep, i said screw it and downloaded the QDL Tool and upgraded. I’m not waiting around for Dell an longer. It was a PITA but i got it after a while by following this post.

    http://forum.pocketables.com/showpos…2&postcount=45

One thing i noticed is that some guides say to hold the volume up button and connect the USB… well in 1.6 the volume up button is the right rocker when looking at it in landscape… in the doc below the author said to HOLD THE LEFT VOLUME button. Once I did this everything seemed to fall into place.

Downloading this new build right now… we’ll see how it goes.

succesfully updated my unlocked dell streak from 2.2 (i dont remember version, i think its was GAUSB1A13…) to 2.2 GAUSB1A131800.

The problem with the page redirect was solved. None of my files erased after the update and there is no need to hard reset the phone.

i downloaded the 150MB file (from this post) directly from my Streak.

Hey thanks for the help, you say you went from 2.2 10688 build to 2.2 12821 build. I was wondering when you say you downloaded the package and installed the updated if you installed through OTA update through Jenn’s link or if you had to download it to your hard drive and then put it on your micro sd card and update it like you would if you wanted to add Steve’s 1.4.6?

Excellent! My Streak is absolutely up to date again wit out any bugs. I came from the 309 and had issues with server directs in Google,
accu weather update only in portrait and overall just slow and laggy but now…everything fixed, no bugs and very fast. Downloaded the pkg to SD and installed it. Used back up and restore by Dell and lost nothing!

Upgraded with little to no problem . .
Initial Start did not work, had to power down/remove battery and reinsert it for it to start . . then it took a bit longer than usual, even for 2.2 before . . but then it works smooth enough.

QDL worked perfectly for me, no issues at all.

1)Did you install the Qualcom HS-USB Diag 9200 driver as instructed in the video guide?
2)The forum thread here had a message about having to reinstall ADB driver from the QDL tool package to get it to work for the poster. I think ABD driver is needed for fastboot. I did as the thread says, don’t know if that made any difference.

All you locked at&t streak users, do yourselves a favor and put in the work to get to the unlocked froyo. It is so much worth the hastle. Yeay there is some technical steps, lots of reading, and plenty of headaches, but when the chains are broke the streak runs free and WAY better. The update spoken of above worked fine for me but it did do a fac to ry reset in the process, dunno why but no biggie. Fixed browser security problems and thats about all I can tell for now……

You are 100% correct. I updated just like you with no problems using the Streak to do the whole thing. Just typed in the address for the first link Jenn listed above on my Streak, waited until it finished downloading, tapped on the downloaded file and installed it.

It is definitely quicker on build 12821 than on 10688. You notice the difference in speed immediately.

    Thanks Gaurav, and happy holidays

FOTA error on AT&T locked Streak running GAUSB1A130900. I think it’s time to give up on Dell ever supporting the Streak properly and get a Motorola Atrix when it comes out. I should not have to hack my phone to make it work right.
