IP Webcam turns your HTC EVO into a remote webcam

IPWCWhile playing around with Google+ on my HTC EVO 4G the other day, I came to two realizations. The first was that the Android application for Google+ did not have the Hangout option, and the second was that for sitting in a room full of technology I was without a working microphone and webcam for my computer to use the aforementioned option.

Enter IP Webcam, an application that allows you to use your EVO, EVO 3D, or other Android device as a wireless standalone IP webcam.

You will have to download and configure a driver from the author's site if you want to use your phone as a connected webcam on your PC, but by itself IP Webcam contains a video streaming server that you can connect to via browser or media player.

Img[1] I spent a chunk of the day yesterday playing with the web server/streaming portion of the application over 3G, gave my friends my IP address, and had a few watch as my EVO 4G broadcast video and audio of my rather uneventful ride back home and subsequent mauling by cats.

So, if you're looking for something to do with an old EVO or Android device, or you just need a wireless webcam to spy on cats or a baby, IP Webcam is a useful little free program to play with. Do keep in mind you are most likely subject to governing laws concerning hidden cameras, so please don't use this where you're not supposed to.
