Kickstarter spotlight: iOmounts

Magnetic accessories are really taking off now that most electronics don’t have any parts that can be hurt by them. The iOmounts system takes magnets to the stand market and uses them as the connecting force between a tablet and a few different stands and mounts of the type we’ve seen hundreds of. The magnets allow the device to pivot all around the magnetic orb on the stand, which is a big advantage over stands that use rotating parts to make them adjustable. It also requires just a magnetic sticker on the device in order to connect to the stand, whereas other systems often use entire cases that won’t appeal to people who like naked gadgets.

The tablet version of the stand will cost you $69 if you pledge the project on Kickstarter. If you only need the wall mount system instead of the tablet stand, the price goes down to $44. The pledge goal is a rather arbitrary $32481, and with only $1500 pledged so far with 32 days to go they need backers to make it happen. The stand market like the case market is getting very saturated, so I’m amazed every time I see a product that is at least somewhat different to existing offerings, and this definitely qualifies.
