Samsung Galaxy S II phones to get Ice Cream Sandwich

The Samsung Galaxy S II series of smartphones shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread when they were unleashed back in September of this year. And while Gingerbread is an incredibly   quick and elegant OS, Samsung decided that its flagship hardware should probably be updated to Google's flagship software.

Ice Cream Sandwich has hardly been around for a month, and already, Samsung has come to the conclusion that the GSII series of smartphones will get it eventually. There wasn't any release date that came with the ICS confirmation, but I'd bet my money that we won't see anything before next year.

Still, a guarantee is better than being left in the dust. Given the fact that the GSII smartphones are exceptionally fast, I think that the update to ICS will make them one of the most sought-after phones for early next year.
