New CM9 launcher Trebuchet available for 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs

Screenshot2011122318200If you're an AOSP fan, then CyanogenMod 9 is constantly on your mind. Although we may not see a complete version of CM9 for the HTC EVO 4G or 3D anytime soon, there is a way we can get them one step closer to running the latest CyanogenMod custom ROM.

Trebuchet, the team's latest home launcher replacement is compatible with Android 4.0.3+ and has been released in a very alpha form. This means that any custom Ice Cream Sandwich ROM based on 4.0.3 can use this launcher.

Trebuchet brings the following new features to ICS:

  • Custom number of home screens
  • Enable/Disable persistent search bar
  • Separated apps/widgets in drawer
  • Resize any widget
  • Show and fade scrolling indicator on home screen and app drawer
  • Enable/Disable auto-rotate
  • Drawer apps sorting (by title, install date)

Many goodies are still in the works, including infinite scrolling, custom dock pages and size, transition effects for both the home screen and app drawer, and the ability to backup and restore custom settings.

To install Trebuchet on your rooted EVO, grab this .apk. You need to use ADB to push the file to /system/app or Root Explorer to move the file to the /system/app folder of your internal memory. There is also a flashable .zip that can be used with any custom recovery.

After a reboot and a press of the Home button, you'll be enjoying a nice preview of what CM9 will be bringing in 2012. Enjoy!
