Could the HTC Jewel be the next HTC EVO?

New-evo

As speculation mounts about whether or not the HTC EVO franchise will live on after HTC's recent announcements at Mobile World Congress, new plans have just been leaked about a high-end HTC device destined for Sprint.

Although details are sparse at the moment, it looks as if the device is code-named the HTC Jewel, and it has specs that are similar to the HTC One X, which is the most high-end device in the new HTC One series. In particular, the phone is rumored to have an HD 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 Super LCD2, and will be one of Sprint's premiere LTE handsets. And since the One X is an AT&T exclusive, it's likely that this device will indeed take the EVO name when it reaches Sprint, perhaps as the EVO HD or the EVOx.

As many have already noted, CTIA in New Orleans seems to be the ideal time and place for Sprint to officially announce this, with a release date in June or July, right after Sprint's fledgling LTE network officially goes live. Of course, this is all just speculation, based on a small amount of leaked information – but things definitely just got a lot more interesting.
